Hertz Mille Power – All Round Car Audio Excellence!
All round car audio excellence is many music-lovers ultimate goal. Standard systems, even those expensive dealer upgrades, remain very poor especially in the eyes/ears of anyone used to listening to good quality audio. We do not see any signs of that changing either, as car manufacturers continue to experience reduced sales and pressure on pricing!
Hertz Mille Legend speakers have become extremely popular amongst those looking to go a step further than “better”. These refined speakers have been developed using brand new materials, technologies and processes. You could say they marked a redefinition of a loudspeaker. You can read an article on teh development of Mille Legend speakers here: https://www.drivingsounds.co.uk/articles/driving-sounds-issue-5/the-legend-that-is-mille/
This highly capable range is worthy of a matching amplifier to get the most out of the speakers. Mille ML Power is that perfect match. These amplifiers share the refinement and attention to detail enjoyed by their matching speakers. They do not simply output raw power for the sake of it. Every element of a piece of music is considered as the most important. Attention to detail at the design stage is critical to achieving a perfect match.
“Performance without compromise” is a much over used marketing phrase meant to convince the casual researcher that a product is the best it can be. However, compromise is always necessary when conceiving and developing a new product. Sometimes design compromise is made due to price/performance expectations and sometimes (especially in the world of car audio) compromise is enforced by the vehicle itself.
A modern vehicle has a finite amount of power available to run a car audio system. Power hungry on-board processors that control everything from heating to brake balance require stable, clean power sources often leaving less spare capacity than ever before. Hertz knows this of course, hence the move to Class-D amplification (Read free article here: https://www.drivingsounds.co.uk/articles/driving-sounds-issue-4/class-system/ ).
Initially, Class-D amplifiers were thought of as useful only for amplifying bass. Early attempts were unrefined in musical terms, but did a great job of providing bags of unfettered power whilst drawing relatively small amounts of energy from a vehicle’s power supply. Hertz engineers have been fortunate enough to have a wealth of experience and engineering know-how available to them which has helped them evolve Class-D to its current state-of-art. Class-D is now capable of eclipsing most Class-AB amplifiers in terms of providing stable, high quality power to speakers.
Having touched on how car manufacturers are coping with additional power demands, we have to cast an eye toward the future and the undoubted mass adoption of electric power. FOUR MASTERS have already tackled a number of electric vehicles. Here, current draw from the power supply could notionally affect the speed and range of an electric vehicle. Therefore, power consumption of aftermarket devices becomes of paramount importance. Fortunately, the early work that has been put into Class-D amplification and speaker efficiency (especially subwoofers) has served Hertz and parent company Elettromedia (also owner of Audison) well.
Returning to Mille Power specifically, the range consists three models including the ML 5 (4 X 100 WRMS + 1 X 550 WRMS), ML 4 (4 X 120 WRMS) and the ML 1 (1 X 1000 WRMS). The latter, mono block amplifier is capable of running into a 1 ohm load whilst the others are quoted at 2 ohms. These figures are achieved due to D-Class topography itself, coupled with a highly efficient chassis design that incorporates extruded aluminium heat sinks for the power devices helping them run cool without the aid of forced cooling. All models feature balanced speaker inputs to cancel out any vehicle generated system noise.
A number of configurations is possible allowing your FOUR MASTER free rein when designing the most efficient system for your needs.
Ask your FOUR MASTER about ML Power, particularly if you have already chosen to specify Mille Legend speakers. They are a match made in heaven!
