Audison Prima AP 2 M V
There are a number of reasons to consider the Audison Prima AP 2 M V in an installation.
The most obvious is that the vehicle already has standard positions for a 2″ Wideband speaker. There is also a key sonic reason. With a frequency range of 150Hz – 20kHz, the speaker remains phase coherent as there is no need to cross over at 2- 3kHz, resulting in a smoother transition between mid-range and high-frequency sounds. This, in turn, leads to a more stable stereo image and a pleasing all-round sound.
The R&D team at Elettromedia used sophisticated computer modelling to develop a compact speaker that performs at a very high level. A 1″ voice coil leads to a low resonant frequency of 145kHz. This is extremely useful when integrating as a mid in a three-way system. By allowing an installer to run woofers at a lower frequency, image height is very much improved.
A lightweight Aluminium cone provides the required stiffness for reproducing lower frequencies, while a copper shorting ring helps to stabilise impedance.
A special magnetic group made with a double symmetrical Neodymium magnet contributes to achieving exceptional extension at high frequencies while maintaining very compact dimensions.
If your vehicle comes with a 2″ driver position, particularly on the dashboard or in the A-pillars, the Audison Prima AP 2 M V could be a perfect solution.
Driving Sounds has recently written a review of a Mercedes 300 SE featuring these speakers. They confirm that the AP 2’s not only produce precise high-frequencies, but also punchy mid-range. Particularly important for guitar fans!
