A Thesis In Car Audio

Audison Thesis: https://www.fourcaraudio.co.uk/brands/audison/thesis car speakers are amongst some of the best speakers we have ever heard in a car. Created from an exercise in design and launched as a marketable product with as little compromise as possible, they do carry a top-end price tag. However, this is nowhere near what the home audio enthusiast is prepared to pay for a pair of speakers.

Often, when assessing audio, we hear the word “transparent”. This can have a number of meanings. When used to describe a piece of electronics in a signal chain it is a relatively easy concept to understand. If an added device (a pre amplifier for instance) is added to the signal chain with zero effect on the resulting sound it can be said to be transparent.

The word “transparent” when describing the sound from a pair of speakers is not the same. In fact, speakers with a transparent sound may not necessarily suit the ear of the beholder!

There is no absolute, scientific definition of the word when used in the context of speakers, but it seems to be used more as a description of “clarity”. In this context “transparent ” is used to describe a near perfect reproduction of an original recording. However, this in itself is almost impossible to judge unless the listener was present at the original recording session!

However, despite the vagaries surrounding the word in this context, when speakers are described as “transparent” it is generally taken to be a very positive thing. The connotation is that the speakers in question are distortion free. This is a very desirable attribute and something not many speakers can boast. However, it can be scientifically expressed and measured and as such is a more useful measure of a speaker’s performance.

Ultimately, the word seems to be used as a form of hyperbole when reviewers are enjoying what they are hearing. We cannot see anything negative about its use in this context.

Audison Thesis speakers are incredibly “detailed”, “articulate”, “well-balanced”, “transparent” and any other word you may be able to think of that would help to express to others their sheer knock-out performance and musical delivery.
